German Stahlhelm M1918 camouflaged helmet. Helmet model 1918 with chinstrap with opening hook, fixed on the headband. Shell marked with bell logo and letter L for Richard Lindenberg A.G., Remscheid-Hasten, size 64. Iron headband, the 2 front rivets never removed, the rear rivet may have been. Headpiece made of 3 brown leather panels with wolf teeth. One is a different colour as is common on late war helmets. The horsehair pads are present. The detachable chinstrap is present, a little dry and fragile, makeshift repair on one side with a cord at the rivets. The leather piece protecting the hook is marked by a Berlin manufacturer, dated but not very legible. The helmet has been camouflaged with brushstrokes of dark paint. Liner of three brown leather pads, one slightly different in colour, typical of late-war production. Horsehair cushions present. Detachable chinstrap present, somewhat dry and fragile, one side repaired with string at the rivet. Leather hook protector stamped by a Berlin maker, dated but illegible. Camouflage composed of dark brushstrokes, later varnished. Camouflaged 1918 helmets are rare.
