On the front, a draft insignia in pencil, consisting of a band forming a circle with two thin vertical bars inside. Perhaps a draft for the 51st Highland Division? or 12th, 13th or 14th York and Lancaster? or 85th US DI? Rarely seen helmet with the beginnings of an insignia design. On the front, a faint pencilled outline of an emblem consisting of a circle enclosing two thin vertical bars-possibly an unfinished design for the 51st Highland Division, the 12th, 13th or 14th York and Lancaster, or the 85th U.S. Division.
