Black oilcloth liner stamped in red underneath, with original rubber top pad covered with felt. Original chinstrap in good condition, split-rivet lugs intact. On the front, a faint pencilled outline of an emblem consisting of a circle enclosing two thin vertical bars-possibly an unfinished design for the 51st Highland Division, the 12th, 13th or 14th York and Lancaster, or the 85th U.S. Division.
