A rare and beautiful first edition of this famous text, whose aim is to educate social man towards perfection by combining virtue with refinement of morals. The text was carefully printed by André d'Asola and his sons, who had taken over the workshop of Aldus Manutius the elder between 1515 and 1529. Aldus Manutius' mark appears at the head and end of the volume. A few light damp marks at the end of the quires, otherwise a very good copy with wide margins. Renouard, Annales de l'imprimerie des Alde, I, 185: "Belle et rare édition, la première de ce livre, et très recherchée des Italiens".
