Catalogue des livres du Cabinet de feu de M. Randon de Boisset, Receveur Général des Finances, Chez de Bure, Paris, 1777. In-12, contemporary binding in red morocco, spine decorated with fleur-de-lys, boards with triple gilt fillet and coat of arms of the Comtesse de Provence, gilt endpaper. The work is accompanied by a two-page handwritten letter from the Comtesse de Provence to the Baron de Breteuil with the wax seal bearing the Comtesse's coat of arms. Condition: Good condition Provenance: This copy appeared in the Watson Taylor sale and in the Morgan Repértoire 1899 N° 8479 Note: Marie-Joséphine de Savoie, Comtesse de Provence (1753-1810), daughter of Victor-Amédée III, King of Sardinia, and Marie-Antoinette of Spain, she married Louis-Stanislas-Xavier, the future Louis XVIII, in 1771, becoming Comtesse de Provence. This catalogue was compiled for the auction of the personal library of Pierre Louis Paul Randon de Boisset (1708-1776), an eminent collector and Receiver General of Finances. The sale began on Monday 3 February 1777 and continued over the following days at Mr Randon de Boisset's residence on rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris. The catalogue lists 1,450 lots, reflecting the richness and diversity of his collection, which included works of literature, history and old printed books.
