Lot no. 94
CÉLINE (Louis-Ferdinand). Nord. Paris, Gallimard, 1960. In-8, paperback. First edition. One of 155 copies on vellum pur fil, second paper. The second part of the German trilogy, after D'un château l'autre (1957) and before Rigodon (1969), Nord is "Céline in the middle of Germany in flames", wrote Roger Nimier. The novel, part autobiography, part fantasy, recounts his tribulations from June to October 1944, from Baden-Baden to Berlin, then to Brandenburg, in the village of "Zornhof" (alias Kränzlin), in the company of his wife Lucette, their cat Bébert and the actor Robert Le Vigan. A map of Germany illustrates pp. 462-463. Head faded, small accident in middle of spine.
