CELTIC BRONZE HORSE BIT. Ca. 500 - 300 BC. A bronze horse bit with a central jointed mouthpiece composed of two bars connected by a single link. Each bar features a circular loop at the ends, allowing for attachment to the cheekpieces. These are elongated and exhibit a series of circular perforations along their length. The ends of the cheekpieces curve slightly outward and terminate in rounded cap finials. Size: 260mm x 145mm; Weight: 315g Provenance: Property of an Oxfordshire art professional; previously in an old British collection, formed in the 1980s on the UK / International art markets.
