CENTRAL ISLAND OF NIAS, Indonesia. Carved stone. Carved stone "Osa Osa" ceremonial seat used as chairs by high-ranking nobles during festivals and other ceremonies, where they are installed near the house of the giver of the feast as a sign of his high rank.
This monoxyle chair with its circular top is a combination of a mythical stag (Böhö) and a dragon (Lasara), and the fan-shaped tail of a bird. The beast is wearing a warrior's collar (kalabubu).
