Lot no. 162
[CENTROSOYUZ]. Memorandum for the International Cooperative Delegation. Memorandum for the International Cooperative Delegation. Moscow, Edition of the Central Union of Cooperatives of All Russia, 1922. In-4, burgundy percaline, gilt title to front cover, smooth muted spine (Binding of the period). Very rare off-the-shelf document intended for the members of the International Cooperative Delegation of Centrosoyuz, the largest federation of Soviet cooperatives, which indirectly directed the cooperative movement in the USSR. This memorandum was published in 1922 under the Russian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic, the dominant republic of the future USSR proclaimed at the end of 1922. Published by the Central Union of Russian Cooperatives, it gives a detailed presentation, in English and French, of Centrosoyuz: the history of Russian Cooperation, the general situation, commercial operations, supplies of basic foodstuffs, supplies of raw materials and financial economics. It ends with a description of its organisation and structure. It opens with 20 original photographs, including portraits of the members of the management named in a dedicated chapter. This very rare document is a first-rate source of official statistics on Centrosoyuz. This important federation of cooperatives was a major factor in the recovery of the Soviet economy, which had been weakened by the First World War and the February and October revolutions. Comrade Huber's personal copy.
