S., Paris or Bordeaux, 1949-1953, to General de Gaulle; 8 pages various sizes, some headings; 4 with autograph apostille from General de Gaulle. 1 January 1949: best wishes, "inseparable from those I am forming for the recovery of our country"; de Gaulle writes: "Thank you". - 19 August: announces the birth of his son Jean-Jacques (19 August 1949); de Gaulle notes "I have written". 4 January 1950, best wishes; de Gaulle wrote: "moi". 1 January 1951: "I have a more general wish, that this year 1951 will see France abandon its hesitant approach, break with its uncertainties and courageously face up to hostile realities. For many, whether discouraged or frightened, your name is associated with such hope. Circumstances have given me the good fortune to be among the few who have been informed, so that my attachment does not stem solely from a movement of sentiment"... De Gaulle noted: "I have responded". Bordeaux 21 February 1952. He regretted not being able to come to the meeting at the Vélodrome d'hiver: "I have a lot of work to do in Bordeaux"...
