First edition. Deluxe edition limited to 50 numbered copies on Hollande paper, the only large paper, this one no. 38. This copy is embellished with three full-page gouaches signed by Maurice Chabas, a Symbolist painter whose style was influenced by Pierre Puvis de Chavannes. His mystical work reflects the ideas of the occultist Joséphin Péladan. Copy with autograph signed letter from the author "to Madame Arthur Meyer, beautiful and poet, in sincere sympathy". The cockerel depicted on the covers, together with the initials of the owner of the book and her husband's bookplate, refer to Arthur Meyer's connection with the daily newspaper Le Gaulois, of which he was director. A fine copy with large margins. Spine of dust jacket unstained, slipcase a little worn.
