CHALCIDIAN HIGH TINNED BRONZE HELMET WITH CHEEKS. Ca. 300 BC A tinned bronze Chalcidian helmet with a pointed skull and an offset horizontal band running around the circumference at brow level. The face is framed by two high arches with a central nose guard. Large, elongated cheek-pieces of rounded outline are attached along the lower edge by a row of small hinges, and the rear rim is drawn down to form a shallow neck guard. Size: 320mm x 270mm; Weight: 830g. Provenance: Private Collection; Ex-Leo Mildenberg collection, Switzerland, 1980s-1990s.
