Square cashmere shawl, India, c. 1870, black star-patterned ground with four medallions extending to the corners, framed by pairs of flowering cashmere palm leaves, back-to-back and facing each other, alternating with medallions. Espoliné cashmere weave, embroidered fringed selvedges; the medallion bears an embroidered signature (small holes). Preserved in its box, 190 x 190 cm.
