Moulded, carved and turned oak and walnut asymmetrical chevet, jambs adorned with acanthus leaves and fleurons, topped at the back with Madonnas, framing an arcature of twisted columns topped with cherubs. The three-lobed pediment of the main chevet is centred on a Virgin and Child in relief, framed by scrolls and finials and topped with an acanthus leaf. The transoms are carved with fantastic marine animals. 19th century, probably Indo-Portuguese 207 x 129 x 230 cm Damage, cracks, parts refinished.
