In-folio, blue percaline decorated in cold, gilt title on the first cover, smooth mute spine (Publisher's binding). First edition of this humorous album in 24 lithographed plates with 67 vignettes by Cham, alias Amédée de Noé (1818-1879), preceded by an illustrated title and this epigraph: "Torture has not been abolished in France, it has only changed its name, it is now called Fashion".
A precious copy with the plates on chine collé captioned in Cham's hand. It contains the title and epigraph, the 25 plates of the suite (including the title) with autograph captions and numbering, and a 25th plate without caption.
