CHAR (René). Arrière-histoire du Poème pulvérisé. Paris, Jean Hugues, 1953. Set of 2 volumes, text small square in-12, paperback, untrimmed; typescript jansenist black morocco, lining and endpapers orange suede, black morocco slipcase (Atelier Laurenchet). First edition decorated with an original lithograph in colours by Nicolas de Staël as a frontispiece: a sketched portrait of René Char. This is the text of an unpublished commentary that the poet wrote on a copy of Poème pulvérisé (1947). These notes, considered in themselves as an appendix poem, were deemed worthy of an edition. The first book published by Jean Hugues at his own address. Edition of 120 copies on Hollande vellum paper. Signed by René Char and Nicolas de Staël. An abundantly corrected typescript of 22 pages is enclosed. Engraving discharge.
