After 27 minutes in the air, the Franco-British prototype piloted by André Turcat touched down to the applause of 400 journalists and thousands of spectators. With its elegant, futuristic design and supersonic cruising speed, this aeronautical legend will go down as one of France's proudest technological achievements: the fastest airliner in history after the Soviet Tupolev Tu-144.
