CHARLES OUDIN, GOLD PADLOCK POCKET WATCH WITH ROYAL BLUE ENAMEL AND MICRO-PEARLS, SWITZERLAND, CIRCA 1840 yellow gold case in the shape of a padlock, made in Geneva, with a front opening concealing the dial beneath, hinged hatch decorated with chiselled decoration and a large translucent blue enamel plaque on a guilloché background, centred by a mock lock patch with micro-pearls. The case is decorated on the back and sides with chiselled decoration. A small white enamel dial with Roman numerals, Breguet-style hands in burnished metal, a side-hinged back door protecting a second heart-shaped dust cover, engraved with the name of the maker Charles Oudin, watchmaker to the King. Inside the case, a heart-shaped movement with cylinder escapement, separate bridges, key-wound. Watch to be serviced, but complete.
