Some of the double stitching has come undone, but the seat is holding up well.
Designed in the 1960s for the resort of Les Arcs (Savoie), Charlotte Perriand's "Les Arcs" chairs embody a resolutely modern approach, combining functionality, sobriety and elegance. Made from tubular metal and often combined with a leather or wooden seat, they were designed to be robust and mass-produced, while retaining the clean lines characteristic of the designer's work. Long anonymous, these pieces have since been rediscovered and are now sought after for their authenticity and their importance in the history of twentieth-century design.
