An extremely rare collection of the works of Mme de Charrière. The abbé de La Tour is said to have lent his name to the latter for the publication of the short stories: Trois femmes, nouvelle : Second French edition, the first illustrated with 6 remarkable figures including a frontispiece engraved by Duplessis-Bertaux, Choffard and Couché after Legrand. The title mistakenly announces 7 figures, an error repeated by Cohen - De Ricci. Honorine d'Userche, short story followed by Three Dialogues. Second edition of the French translation first published the previous year in London. Sainte Anne et les Ruines de Yedburg. First French edition of the two texts. The three volumes each have two preliminary leaves, including the general title and the title proper to the volume. Of Dutch origin, Isabelle Agnès Elizabeth Van Tuyll Van Serooskerken Van Zuylen married a gentleman from Vaud, Charles-Emmanuel de Charrière de Penthaz, in 1771 and settled near Neuchâtel, where she held a salon. A trailblazer, she was critical of aristocratic privileges and moral conventions. A fine copy with wide margins. Slight rubbing on some corners and spines. Escoffier, 89 (copy incomplete of title and engravings): "Very rare edition of these three volumes"; Cohen - De Ricci, 603; Philippe Godet, Bibliographie de Mme de Charrière, n° xxiv.- Monglond, IV, 701-702, states that the only copy he saw in Geneva has only 6 figures.
