In-4° oblong, bound in green half-chagrin, spine ribbed and richly decorated, title gilt on spine, covers in matching percaline (hinges and headpieces rubbed, covers rubbed with a 2 cm2 loss towards the lower corner of the first cover) (period binding). Extremely rare first edition album illustrated with 18 hors-texte views lithographed and illuminated by the author. The views are inspired by Lory, but also by Bourrit (plate no. 9: view of the Bossons glacier), Linck (plates no. 10: Le Prieuré, no. 14: le Chapeau and no. 15: le col de Balme), Wocher (plate no. 16: Saussure's ascent of Mont-Blanc) and others. Each plate is accompanied by a descriptive text on a leaflet. Handwritten ex-dono on the flyleaf (gift to a schoolboy as a reward). Plate N° 4 unbound. Some foxing not affecting the plates. In 2015, Tony Astill in Southampton produced a luxurious reprint of 100 copies of this work, the original edition of which is now impossible to find, with the original texts in French and their translation into English.
