Chéri Samba is a Congolese painter and illustrator renowned for fusing African popular culture with Western painting techniques. His vibrant works address politics, society and everyday life in Africa. Samba uses an accessible visual language, often adding text to his paintings to challenge viewers and provoke reflection. Recognised worldwide, he is a key figure in contemporary African art and a spokesperson for social and political issues.
