CHINA, CA MAU WRECK, LATE KANGXI - EARLY YONGZHENG PERIOD, CIRCA 1720-1725
Suite of sixteen small blue-white porcelain polylobed saucers, decorated with a deer near a pine tree in a central medallion, the slightly gadrooned wing decorated with alternating landscapes and floral motifs in lotus petals.
(Three chips, two dirty, one with marine concretions).
On the reverse, label "Ca Mau - Binh Thuan, Sotheby's - Unicom" and references written in ink.

Note: The Ca Mau is a Chinese junk sunken in 1725 in southern Vietnam and containing more than 130,000 pieces of porcelain from the Kangxi and early Yongzheng periods.
Sotheby's Amsterdam sold almost half of them on 29, 30 and 31 January 2007.
