CHINA, Kangxi period (1662-1722) Set of five blue-white porcelain vases: three covered baluster vases decorated with flowers and birds in four cartouches on the neck and foot, the body also divided into four cartouches alternating scenes of ladies in the garden and those of temples and pavilions in the mountains, a frieze of honeycombs on the shoulder, and the lids decorated with scenes of children playing with Buddhist lion-shaped grips, The ensemble completed by a pair of long-necked vases decorated with a frieze of honeycombs under the lip, then on two registers at the neck with a continuous scene of flowers and birds, above a continuous scene of children playing, two Buddhist lion-head handles (with suspended movable ring), the body divided into four cartouches alternating scenes of ladies in the garden and mountain landscapes, and a band decorated with flowering branches at the foot. H. 42.5 cm (covered vases) and H. 46.7 cm One of the three covered vases restored, with chip and star-shaped crack in the middle of the body. One vase of the pair with the neck restored (chips, repaints and a reconstituted ring), the other with missing handles. This lot is subject to prior registration with a deposit.
