CHINA - QIANLONG period (1736 - 1795)
Important box in the shape of a "wan" (swastika) emblem in red lacquer carved on the top with a swastika decorated with eight bats flying over foaming waves, in the centre a medallion decorated with Shoulao seated holding a scroll, the corners in the shape of ruyi heads. The sides are decorated with five bats among clouds, and the corners with eight precious objects (babao) on a latticework background. Resting on a quadripod base decorated on the sides with peonies in their foliage, and with incised decoration on the top of a large carved flower in its foliage (Minor accidents and restorations).
