CHINA, QING PERIOD, 18th CENTURY
A celadon jade covered hu vase, with a flattened body, on a small heel, partially veined with rust, the body decorated in slight relief with ropes tied with ruyi heads, the sides with lotus flowers surrounded by ruyi. Two dragon heads form handles, holding two removable rings. Friezes of ruyi heads on the neck opening and around the rim of the lid complete the ornamentation. A lotus bud forms the handle of the lid.

Provenance: Private collection of an officer, Mr Durand Delacre, born 20 March 1834, knight of the Legion of Honour, received the commemorative medal of the Chinese Campaign.
