Les quatre double-pages ici présentées concernent notamment la minorité Miao. Chacune d'elles présente un couple : - Le travail du riz : la femme pilant le riz, l'homme portant le tamis, - Le pêcheur fabricant une nasse et la paysanne à la houe, - L'hommage aux ancêtres : la femme avec offrande à alcool, l'homme au coq et instrument, - Le guerrier et la femme aux bras croisés (représentant une minorité considérée comme plus sauvage). Le «Zhi Gong Tu» est un recueil de peintures et textes en chinois et mandchou sur les origines géographiques, les habitudes, les costumes et coutumes, les rites et divertissements, les coutumes matrimoniales, les méthodes de pro­duction, et statuts des minorités des régions de Chine sous la Cour des Qing durant le règne de Kangxi. Compilé entre 1750 et 1761, il comprend plusieurs volumes répartis selon les albums illustrés, les albums calligraphiés et les albums imprimés. Peintes à l’encre et couleur sur soie, montées et encadrées. Ces quatre doubles-pages représentent quatre couples minoritaires, hommes et femmes en vis-à-vis, de la province du Guizhou. Chaque page a un titre situant géographiquement chacune des tribus, une courte notice présente l’origine historique, la situation géographique et les vêtements, la religion et les divertissements, les coutumes matrimoniales, les méthodes de production et le statut d’hommage du peuple ;« Miao », décrit en mandchou et chinois. Ces quatre pages appartiennent au huitième volume d’une série en comportant probablement huit ou douze. Selon les expressions faciales, les costumes et les détails d’action des 23 portraits Miao du Guizhou, ils peuvent être classés en quatre types de représentations différentes. Ainsi, ces quatre pages sont organisées comme suit : Le titre : Côté droit (homme): Côté gauche (femme): Sur la page de droite, l'homme est habillé en vêtements de style Han et tient un panier ; Sur la page de gauche, la femme, les cheveux relevés en chignon et vêtue de vert, pile du riz. Le titre : Côté droit (homme) : Côté gauche (femme): Sur la page de droite, l'homme est assis, fabricant une nasse pour pêcher, à ses côtés un couteau et un panier à poisson ; Sur la page de gauche, la femme tient une houe. Le titre : Côté droit (homme) : Côté gauche (femme): Sur la page de droite, l'homme rend hommages aux ancêtres, devant un dragon d'herbes avec des drapeaux de cinq couleurs sur le sol, tenant dans ses mains un coq et un instrument ; Sur la page de gauche, la femme avance, une bouteille d'alcool dans les mains. Le titre : Côté droit (homme) : Côté gauche (femme) : Sur la page de droite, l'homme est vêtu d'une armure et casqué ; il tient une lance et un bouclier dans ses mains, ainsi qu'une épée entre les dents ; Sur la page de gauche, la femme se tient debout, les bras croisés. Dans l'ouvrage, cette minorités est considérée comme plus barbare, et placée après les autres. Title: Right side (man): Left side (woman): On the right page, the man is paying hommage to the ancestors, in front of a grass dragon with five-colored flags on the ground, holding a rooster and an instrument; On the left page, the woman is walking forward, a bottle of alcohol in her hands. The title: Right side (man): Left side (woman): On the right page, the man is dressed in armor and helmeted; he is holding a spear and shield in his hands, as well as a sword between his teeth; On the left page, the woman is standing with her arms crossed. In the book, this minority is considered as more barbaric, and placed after the others.
