CHINESE HAN DYNASTY POLYCHROME TERRACOTTA ROOSTER - TL TESTED
Ca. 202 BC - AD 220. A polychrome terracotta rooster with a hollow body, incised wings, and a layered tail. The head is held upright, with a prominent comb, wattles, and closed beak. Mounted on separately cast bronze legs with webbed feet. Size: L:160mm / W:160mm ; 490g Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
