CHINESE NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY STONE STATUE OF GUANYIN Northern Wei Dynasty, Ca. AD 386 - 534. A stone carved bodhisattva. Well-proportioned, the slender figure has a serene and compassionate expression with a rounded face. A crown adorns the head, with ornaments to each shoulder. Although the forearms are missing, a long necklace is layered around the neck, along with an elegant draped cloth and jeweled garlands. The bodhisattva is dressed in a long, pleated skirt that reaches the ground, cinched at the waist with a knotted belt.
