CHINESE TANG DYNASTY TERRACOTTA SEATED MUSICIAN - TL TESTED Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta figure of a seated female harpist. The woman is shown kneeling with her legs tucked beneath a wide, flaring skirt painted in orange-red pigment. Her arms are raised, holding a curved harp vertically against her left shoulder. Her facial features are rendered with delicate lines outlining the eyes and lips. The hair is arranged in a high, looped topknot at the crown of the head. The surface retains traces of the original pigment. Size: L:235mm / W:130mm ; 1.16kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
