CHINESE TERRACOTTA CAMEL - TL TESTED Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. An exceptional terracotta camel. The vibrant animal is shown standing with its head stretched up high, in mid-bellow, with a small monkey sat on the saddle. Elaborate carved details can be seen on the mane and multiple layered saddle. The lively monkey sits atop the cushioned saddle, looking curiously at the surroundings. Size: 640mm x 560mm; Weight: 12.4kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
