CHINESE TERRACOTTA DANCING LADY - TL TESTED Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta dancing lady, dressed in a long skirt, with a mid-length overcoat, and hair arranged in a high double knot. Her upper body is slightly bent to the side, with one arm in the air, indicating motion in her dancing. Dances during this period were diverse, influenced by the interaction with neighbouring areas, including Central Asia, Persia and India. Size: L:300mm / W:145mm ; 1.21kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
