CHINESE TERRACOTTA FAT LADY HOLDING A CHILD - TL TESTED Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907.
A terracotta court lady holding a child. She stands upright with hands clasped to her chest, cradling a small child within voluminous sleeves on her right arm. Her full-bodied form is dressed in a long, pleated robe with incised vertical folds. The head is crowned with an elaborate coiffure tied into a bow, partially covering the ears.

Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong.
This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot.
