CHINESE TERRACOTTA FAT LADY - TL TESTED. Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. An elegantly modelled standing figure on a rectangular base, the full rounded body draped in long robes falling in deep vertical folds, the voluminous sleeves gathered at the chest as she holds a circular fan. The hair is arranged in an elaborate coiffure high atop the head with traces of black pigment, the face finely detailed with traces of red on the lips and cheeks. Size: 500mm x 210mm; Weight: 4.7Kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
