CHINESE TERRACOTTA HORSE - TL TESTED.
Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta horse standing on a rectangular base, the powerful body elegantly proportioned with well-defined musculature and a slightly arched neck. The head is slightly lowered, the long mane neatly combed and swept to one side, and a draped saddle cloth cascades over the flanks. Traces of red, white, and black pigment highlight the spotted decoration on the body and the finely detailed trappings. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1917,1208.2. Size: 640mm x 690mm; Weight: 16.6kg Provenance: East Anglian private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
