CHINESE TERRACOTTA POLO RIDER - TL TESTED. Tang Dynasty, Ca. AD 618 - 907. A terracotta female polo player, riding a hollow-moulded horse. The rider is depicted leaning forward, with her arms as if holding a stick. The horse is depicted mid-gallop, with perked ears, bulging eyes, and flaring nostrils. Size: 450mm x 330mm; Weight: 3.24kg Provenance: From the private collection of a Somerset gentleman; previously in an old British collection, formed before 2000 on the UK /European art markets. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
