Lot no. 93
KOHLER CHOCOLATE - flat enamelled plate with ears-1956- A superb example in exceptional condition, with pronounced colours and a very good gloss (a few very very tiny superficial scratches in the lower right corner, nothing really...). 47.5 x 17.5 cm. "Émaillerie Alsacienne strasbourg". The founder of Nestlé, the pharmacist Henri Nestlé, of Swiss/German origin, launched his milk flour (a flour with added milk) on the market in Vevey, Switzerland. The story began in 1866, when the Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company opened the first condensed milk factory in Europe in Switzerland. In 1867, Henri Nestlé developed an innovative infant food, and in 1904 Nestlé made its first foray into the chocolate market. In 1905, the company he founded merged with Anglo-Swiss. In 1929 Nestlé bought Peter-Cailler-Kohler, Switzerland's largest chocolate maker, which later became the Nestlé Group as we know it today (source: nestle.ch).
