Lot no. 1966
Christian Peschke (1946 Bad Säckingen - 2017 Flintsbach) Sleeping female nude Peschke has depicted the woman here completely absorbed in herself, the blue-grey, voluminous body is outlined with powerfully contoured strokes and only slightly modelled, the yellow-green background is laid out as a single surface. In this way, Peschke consciously drew on several avant-garde movements at the beginning of the 20th century: the Fauvists around Henri Matisse, the Cubists Pablo Picasso, Amedeo Modigliani and Alexander Archipenko, but also the Viennese Modernists and the German Expressionists of the "Brücke" and the "Blaue Reiter". Peschke drew on his intensive dialogue with his predecessors to develop his own art and personal style. Female nudes are Peschke's central motifs as a painter, which for him reflected Eros, sensuality, vitality and beauty. Peschke, who studied under Gerhard Gollwitzer at the Stuttgart Academy, first settled in Spain as a freelance artist at the age of 35; he later lived in Merano and Bolzano, Bruckmühl and Flintsbach. Christian Peschke has been represented at numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad since the mid-1990s. Oil or acrylic/plywood panel. L. and signed; 120 cm x 90 cm. Frame. Provenance: Dissolution of the estate of a southern German private collection - Part I. Oil or acrylic on plywood panel. Signed.
