Lot no. 1959
Christian Peschke (1946 Bad Säckingen - 2017 Flintsbach)
Southern fishing village with cypresses and white houses
Expressive, flat, stylised depiction in intensely bright and contrasting colours. This is influenced by the avant-gardes and stylistic currents of classical modernism in the first half of the 20th century, such as Cubism, Fauvism and the German Expressionism of the "Brücke" artists, with which Peschke obviously engaged intensively and merged into his own style. Peschke, who studied under Gerhard Gollwitzer at the Stuttgart Academy, initially settled in Spain as a freelance artist at the age of 35; he later lived in Merano and Bolzano, Bruckmühl and Flintsbach. Peschke has been represented at numerous exhibitions at home and abroad since the mid-1990s. Oil or acrylic/plywood panel. Signed and dated; 60 x 80 cm. Frame.
Provenance: Dissolution of the estate of a South German private collection - Part I.
