A VENICE MAIOLICA VASE, SECOND HALF 16TH CENTURY; WORN, CRAQUELURE, MINOR FIRING DEFECTS, SOME REPAINTING AT THE UPPER RIM FOR POSSIBLE RESTORATION UNDERNEATH
Characteristic of the Venetian taste is the decorative repertoire used here: typical is the use of the cherub on the background with different motifs that also appears, among others, in the bowl belonging to the series characterised by the walnut enterprise, and published by Timothy Wilson in 1996 (T. Wilson, Italian Maiolica of the Renaissance, Milan 1996, card 178, p. 454).
