Clara Peeters (Antwerpen um 1589 - um 1655) Still Life with Cheese, Jar, Pretzels, Bread and Wine Ca. 1630, oil/wood, 45 x 63,5 cm, cradled. - The painting is a typical example of the artist’s later work. Few items in minimised colouring don’t try to impose on the spectator. Precisely this austerity and reserve characterise the painting’s genuitiy and appeal. Flemish-Dutch still life painter. Little is known of life a. career of the artist, possibly she was a pupil of O. Beert in Antwerp. In 1612 she settled in Amsterdam, in 1617 she moved to The Hague.
