Classical Modernism Käthe Kollwitz Woman with crossed hands. Before 1918. Etching in brown on wove paper. 28.7 x 23 cm (39.5 x 29.5 cm). Signed in belist pencil. Signed by Otto Felsing in the plate margin. - With brown stains in the plate and sporadically in the margins, with a few barely noticeable handling creases in the margins, verso with traces and remnants of earlier mounting in the upper margin. Good overall. Splendid, extremely burnished impression with strongly marked platemark and wide margins, with scoop margins on two sides. Von dem Knesebeck 43 IV b. - Contrary to Von dem Knesebeck on vellum instead of copperplate paper. Copy of the fourth printing state of the work created in 1898/99, for which the artist worked the plate with dot roulette, before Richter's numbered edition of 1918 and, as is usually the case, with the signature of the printer Otto Felsing. Etching in brown colour on wove paper. Signed by the artist and by printer Otto Felsing. - With small brownish spots in the margins, occasionally also in the margins. Barely visible traces of handling in the margins, verso in the upper margin with traces and rests of former mounting. All in all good. Splendig, extensively burnished impression with strongly visible plate edge. With wide margins, at two sides with deckle edge. - Contrary to Von dem Knesebeck on wove paper instead of copperplate paper. Copy of the fourth printing state, for which the artist worked the plate with dot roulette, before the numbered edition by Richter from 1918 and, as is usually the case, with the signature of the printer Otto Felsing.
