Classical Modernism Sascha Schneider 2 drawings (on 1 sheet). Allegorical youth with wreath / Youth facing left. Circa 1920. Pencil and charcoal on wove paper. 27.5 x 36.3 cm. Labelled "Nachlass: Sascha Schneider" verso lower left. - With delicate and even browning due to the paper, faint brownstaining. Good overall. Drawings captured in fine strokes, partly with fine hatching. Provenance: From the estate of Klaus Hoffmann, here from the artist's estate. - Sascha Schneider was a German painter and sculptor. He studied at the Dresden Academy of Art and was particularly known for his symbolist and allegorical depictions. His works often depict heroic male figures in dramatically charged scenes. From 1903, Schneider was closely associated with Karl May, for whose travel stories he created cover illustrations. - Klaus Hoffmann was scientific director of the Karl May Museum in Radebeul from 1987 to 1993 and was intensively involved with the author's work throughout his life. 2 drawings (on 1 sheet).
