This gilded bronze sculpture combines the organic evidence of fruit with the strangeness of a human mouth, a disturbing metamorphosis that sums up the very essence of his artistic language. The luminous gilding, sensual volumes and refined modelling give the work a precious, timeless presence, somewhere between sculpture, biography and sculpture. between sculpture, jewellery and design. The apple, a universal symbol, is a natural reference to the myth of Adam and Eve, the forbidden fruit that became an allegory of temptation and knowledge. By adding a mouth, Claude Lalanne underlines its sensual and enigmatic dimension: the apple becomes desire and speech, nature and humanity. Published by Artcurial in a limited edition of 250, referenced in major publications devoted to Lalanne and exhibited at the Musée de Nemours retrospective in 1983, it stands out as an emblematic piece by the artist. Very good overall condition We do not detect any signs of restoration or major damage on this work. Slight wear underneath, where the sculpture rests (normal use). Small micro-scratches throughout (minor). Light soiling, more pronounced on the upper part, under the leaves.
