Commentary:
The ship La Combattante was a British torpedo boat offered to the Free French Naval Forces in 1942. She took part in the D-Day landings on 6 June 1944, bombarding German forces in the Courseulles-sur-Mer sector. On 14 June 1944, La Combattante landed General de Gaulle on French soil. It sank on 23 February 1945, off the English coast, after hitting an underwater mine.
