Clment MASSIER (1844-1917) Aquatic fauna and flora; barracudas and papyrus Rare and important vase in the symbolist style depicting courage and rebirth; the base is the base truncated cone, the shoulder dented quadrangular neck with moving rim. The proof is in ceramic mesh with a polychrome polychrome, with metallic lustre and rich iridescent effects effects; aubergine, mordor, turquoise and green. Circa 1900. Signed MASSIER Golfe Juan (A.M.) in the brush and bears the manufacturer's hallmarks on the the reverse. Height : 41,5 cm Public collection and related work : MAK, Museum fr angewandte Kunst, Vienna, Austria ? A smaller vase of smaller, identical shape is preserved in the collections of this under the inventory number MAK KE 4075 (purchased by the artist in in 1899); the same vase shown in a photograph from 1899 is kept in the same institution under the inventory number KI 7348-1.
