Gothic-style chest Made of patinated iron. Rectangular in shape, it rests on four ornate legs, positioned at the corners. The domed lid features a movable handle and is adorned with Gothic decorative motifs, arranged in several superimposed layers covering the chest, lending a sense of depth to the overall design. Stout, high-relief buttresses, adorned with three-dimensional faux nails with flower-shaped heads, encircle the front and provide an almost invisible locking mechanism, complete with a complex lock. The sides are adorned with radiating motifs and buttresses. 20th century H. (excluding the handle) 23 cm – W. 27.3 cm – D. 18.5 cm Traces of gilding remain in places and the lock is non-functional; comes with a key. Note: a fine example by the same maker was recently sold at the dispersal of the Leopoldo Conforti collection on 26 March 2026, lot 288, at Cambi, Milan.
