COIFFURES. Fusilier de l'infanterie de ligne model 1860 police cap in madder cloth with dark blue flap, piping, pompom and star cut out of daffodil cloth, regimental number of the 95th of the line and 1181, dated 1866. ABE Police cap identified: No. 1181 (ex-10125): Joseph LIGNÉ. Ploughman, born on 22 April 1841 at Tuillé (Mayenne). Height: 1.63m. Oval face, blue eyes, large nose, pointed chin, chestnut hair. Incorporated on 14 June 1862 as a replacement by administrative appointment, for seven years. Corporal on 10 May 1864, corporal of Grenadiers on 19 November 1866. Sergeant on 25 May 1867. Re-appointed soldier 2nd class at his request on 1st April 1869. Companies G, A, G. Discharged on 14 June 1869. Apparently served with the 1st Battalion, and in France while the rest of the regiment was in Mexico from 1862 to 1867 (My thanks to Louis Delpérier).
