COIFFURES. Colonial infantry battalion commander's half-foulard kepi, in black cloth with gilt rank brackets, Hungarian knot, headband decorated with the cabled anchor embroidered in gold, inner cap in daffodil silk, black leather headband with drawstring marked by the manufacturer BLOCHIMAY in Paris, in its carrying box with a pair of epaulettes in gilt trimmings. Circa 1910-1914. TBE This set would have belonged to Battalion Chief Joseph DUCROS, a Senegalese Tirailleurs officer in 1914, then with the 22nd RIC, and finally Chief of the 1st Battalion of the 21st Colonial in September 1915, who was killed at Massiges on 25 September 1915. A photocopied biographical file is attached.
