General officer's spiked helmet, patent leather bomber with gilt brass fittings, large crowned frontal eagle with motto headband: "Mit Gott für Koenig und Vaterland", central silver star decorated with the black enamelled eagle of the eponymous order, motto "SUUM CUIQUE" on white enamelled background, fluted unscrewable tip, perlring, cruciform base held by star nails, chinstrap with slightly domed scales, Prussian cockade to the right, right-angled visor edged with a snap ring, snap ring to the rear, blackened leather inner cap with wolves' teeth, visor lined with fine green leather, nape of fine red leather. Helmet perfectly untouched in its uncovered state, bomb slightly deformed, wear from use, not pierced. Circa 1865-1871. ABE
