Rare USM1 NCO helmet of the 551st Parachute Infantry Battalion, heavy steel helmet with welded snap ring to front No. 282 B, fixed lugs, hand painted sides with 551st PIB palm tree and white rank bar, traces left by the presence of a large mesh net, compressed fibre M1 liner with remnants of Navy blue paint on khaki, MSA (Mine Safety Appliance) manufacturer's stamp, with cap, leather chinstrap missing, original engraving "25 August 1944".
